IT was rain of salutations for Ekiti State Governor-elect, Dr Kayode Fayemi over his victory on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in weekend’s election.

Among those who feted Fayemi and urged him to use his victory to boost socio-economic development in Ekiti are National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode; Edo State Governor,  Godwin Obaseki; and a chieftain of the APC in Imo State, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume.

Congratulating Fayemi, in a statement he titled ‘’A victory for the People,’’ Asiwaju Bola Tinubu said Ekiti people had voted to take a path different from the one on which they had been.

He said:”In Ekiti a chapter has closed and a new one has begun. This was not done by contrivance or artifice, nor was it the product of intimidation or improper influence.

This came about because it was the will of the people of Ekiti as expressed and manifested in the conduct of a free and fair election in that state.

In voting as they did, the people voted for the state to take a path different from the one on which they had been. “In voting as they did, the people thus voted for themselves.

Here, we must congratulate Dr. Kayode Fayemi and our party, the All Progressives Congress  for the successful campaign that was run and for the confidence the people of Ekiti have shown in transferring the mandate to govern them into our hands.

“Dr. Fayemi must keep in remembrance that the people have placed their futures in his safekeeping and he must justify their trust in him by doing all he can do to advance their welfare.

I’m confident that Dr. Fayemi will keep faith with the programmes and policies of our party in order to improve the lives of the people of Ekiti.

I know Dr. Fayemi will establish an all-inclusive government that involves all stakeholders in his administration and in the governance of the state.’’

Fayemi’s victory well deserved – Ambode

In like manner,  Governor Ambode in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Habib Aruna, congratulated Fayemi for emerging victorious at the keenly contested governorship election and  commended President Muhammadu Buhari, the leadership and members of APC and its supporters for the hard-fought victory adding that it was a testament to the fact that the electoral value of the party has not waned.

He also urged the Ekiti Governor-Elect to use his second coming to build on its previous achievements and forge ahead with the quest to unite the Yoruba nation, especially through regional integration and economic transformation of the South-West geo-political zone and justify the confidence the Ekiti electorate have reposed on him.

Obaseki congratulates Fayemi, commends INEC, police On his part, Governor Obaseki of Edo State while congratulating Fayemi in a statement by his Special Adviser, Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, also commended security agencies and Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for a successful election.

“I join millions of Nigerians in the country and beyond to congratulate the Ekiti State Governor-elect, Dr. Fayemi on his victory at the gubernatorial poll in Ekiti State. I also commend INEC for ensuring that the wishes of Ekiti people prevailed in our collective commitment to consolidate on the gains of our fledgling democracy.’’

Embrace all Ekiti people, Ararume urges

Fayemi Celebrating Fayemi’s victory, the Federal Commissioner representing the South East in the National Communications Commission, NCC, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, called on Imo people to similarly reject godfatherism and stoamch infrastructure like Ekiti people.

He urged Fayemi to embrace the entire people of Ekiti and see them as one irrespective of their political affiliation and spread development in equal proportions across the state.
