A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Senator Magnus Abe, has congratulated members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the party’s victory in last Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Ekiti State.
Abe spoke at Abam-Ama community in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State, during a stakeholders meeting of Team Abe, a political pressure group within the APC.
He pointed out that the APC gubernatorial candidate in the Ekiti State election, Dr. Kayode Fayemi is well known to the masses, while little or nothing is known about his major rival, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
According to the senator, “Everyday, Nigerians hear in the media about Governor Ayo Fayose and the APC candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi. But when Ekiti people got to the polls they realized that Fayose was not a candidate.
“Nobody knew the PDP governorship candidate in Ekiti State; they only know Governor Fayose and Fayemi. The lesson from Ekiti State is that those who want to serve the people should be allowed to come out and talk to the people.”
Abe, who is also the senator representing the Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the National Assembly accused the PDP of using propaganda to undermine the successes recorded by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
He said the propaganda and deceit against the APC-led federal government, which the PDP was trying to sell to Nigerians, collapsed with its defeat at the just-concluded gubernatorial election in Ekiti.
“I want to congratulate the All Progressives Congress. The victory in Ekiti State is a victory for all Nigerians. It shows that all the propaganda these people have been carrying to feed Nigerians against all the things President Buhari is doing to make sure that the country is on the right path to development has failed”.
“They have been going around the country, using social media platforms to demonize our party and bring down the administration. The Ekiti election was their testing ground and they collapsed and collapsed woefully. Every other place they go, they go with their message of hate, every other place they go, they go with their message of deceit”.
“When they come to Rivers State, they refuse to acknowledge the many positive things the President has done in Rivers State. The East-West Road which was abandoned and now being worked on, the N-Power for youths and a lot of other things that the President is doing in Rivers State”.
“Therefore, we must all come together to support the President to complete the work he has started,” Senator Abe said.
Earlier in his welcome address, coordinator of Team Abe in Okrika local government area and a youth leader in Rivers state, comrade Kingsley Ibanichuka assured senator Abe of the support of the Okrika People to drive the process for the realization of the dream of the APC to take over the Rivers State Government House come 2019 general elections.
“Today, I want to let Rivers people to know that we (Okrika people) are standing solidly behind your dream and by the grace of God, we shall succeed.”
