Promotion of Inter-regional Friendship: Nigerian Leaders attend Fidau Prayers for Late Alhaja Aishat Baraje

Following the need to advance good governance, inter-regional friendship and peer review , Nigerian leaders from across political divides on Wednesday attended the Fidau Prayer for Late Alhaja Aishat Baraje, Mother of Alhaji Abubakar Baraje, a Senior Member of Reformed APC and associate of Senate President Bukola Saraki .

Thereafter, the leaders held a private meeting at the residence of the Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Those in attendance were Senate President Bukola Saraki, PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Benue State Governor , Dr Samuel Ortom, Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, Former Jigawa State Governor, Dr Sule Lamido, PDP National Women Leader, Hajia Mariya Waziri, Former PDP National Chairman, Senator Barnabas Gemade and Senior Member of the Reformed All Progressive Congress (APC ), Abubakar Baraje amongst other political leaders.

After the meeting, the leaders took group photographs and exchanged pleasantries before departing for their respective destinations.

In an interview after the visit, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike said the leaders were in Ilorin principally to commiserate with Abubakar Baraje over the loss of his mother

He said: “We came here to sympathise with Alhaji Abubakar Baraje over the death of his loving Mother. We prayed for the family.

“Baraje is a politician and you expect politicians to rally round him at this time that he lost his mother. ”

Governor Wike stated that the politicians also used the opportunity to compare notes and do basic peer review for the development of the country.

He said: “When you see your colleagues, you need to compare notes and do peer review on what you are doing in your respective states.

“However, we came purposely to engage in the eight days prayers for the late Mother of Abubakar Baraje “.
