“Let me quite clearly state that Senator Bukola Saraki in taking the decision to leave the All Progressives Congress, and knowing that he had already brought on Senator Ike Ikweremadu who is a PDP Senator is a decision that will definitely put him at odds with the party, and that is to be expected, because like I have said in several occasions, it will be a bit uncomfortable for the majority to be led by the minority. So virtually all APC members and all APC Senators will like to see a situation where we as the majority party in the Senate control the affairs of the National Assembly”.

“But that is not to say that we have met to discuss or take any illegal action to bring that into effect. We know the constitutional provisions as regards that”.

“And for us at this time, that is not actually a priority. Our priority is to get through the major legislative items that are before the National Assembly in the national interest”.

“And I think that whether you are APC or PDP, the issue of proper funding for INEC, the issue of the Electoral Act, the issue of confirmation of sensitive appointments that are important for the proper functioninng of government is something that should be of concern to every Nigerian regardless of your political party.

But because of the current state of the politics and hitting up the polity, when they heard that the APC caucus was meeting, people just over-reacted to that, but as we can see from all the videos you have shown, no member of the APC caucus in the Senate was seen found there at the National Assembly. We didn’t even go there”.

“The PDP is not only misinformed, but they are also totally misinforming Nigerians (about what happened at the National Assembly today). They were talking about Senator Akpabio, but Senator Akpabio is in Uyo as we speak, he has never been in Abuja today. So a lot of information based on which they acted, based on which they mobilized people to the National Assembly, based on which they were making allegations of a plot against democracy and a coup against democracy, all that information was false and premised on false information”.
