The Independent National Election Commission, (INEC) saturday evening issue out a communique for the suspension of the State Assembly By-Election of Port Constituency-3 held today, 18th August, 2018.
In a statement signed by Obo Effanga, the resident electoral commissioner, the commission said, “the hoodlums stormed the various polling units and registration areas disrupting the voting activities, destroying and carting away electoral materials, including smart card readers and ballot boxes.
“As a result of this widespread and wanton disruption of the electoral process as reported by field supervisory presiding officers and supervisors from the Commission and also having reviewed all situations, the Commission in accordance with provisions if section 26 of the electoral acts of 2010 (as amended) hereby suspend the election forthwith “
