The Federal Government has disbursed N500,000 to some young entrepreneurs through the UNESCO Tap Project initiative.

This was in commemoration of the United Nations International Youth Day with the theme “Save Space for the Youth”.

Speaking at the one-year celebration of the UNESCO Tap Project in Abuja recently, the Special Senior Assistant to the President on SDG, Princess Adejoke Orelope Adefulire, said that they are ready to work with the youths to ensure that they are adequately trained and skilled in leadership.

“There is a limit to what the government can employ. The Economic Recovery and Growth Plan of the government is working with the manufacturing company and foreign investors to invest so that we can have job opportunities”, she said.

Also speaking, the Country Director of UNESCO Tap Project, Prince Abdulsalami Ladigbolu, said the UNESCO Tap Project was initiated to compliment efforts made by the federal government to give support that would further assist their approach to youth matters.

Also, the Managing Director, BFL Micro Finance Bank, Mrs. Funmilayo Amunega-Ajayi, however added that the bank is contributing its quota towards the actualization of the SDG goals in Nigeria.

“We are supporting these youths so that they can manage the funds given to them and teach them how to use the funds properly so they can make profits”, she said.
