—No fewer than eight persons have died, while 12 others sustained injuries in a motor accident that occurred at Narbodo village, along Bauchi-Jos Expressway.
Confirming the incident yesterday, Bauchi State Head of Operations, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Mr. Paul Gua, said the accident happened at about 9:16 pm on Tuesday, the 21st of August 2018, as a result over speeding.
Gua said the accident involved an 18-seater Hiace bus, heading to Bauchi from another state and a trailer coming from Bauchi, noting that the two vehicles collided head-on at a village called Nabordo, close to Toro Local Government Area of the state.
He revealed that the Hiace bus loaded with passengers coming to Bauchi was over speeding and overtook a truck, but could not return to its lane, adding that the bus rammed into the trailer, which was coming from Bauchi.
According to him, the aacident caused a traffic jam along the busy expressway, saying “20 persons were involved in the crash, out of which 12 persons sustained injuries while 8 persons were confirmed dead.
The 12 persons injured comprised of 7 male adults and 5 female adults while the dead comprised of 7 male adults and 1 female adult.” He added that the injured were taken to Toro General Hospital for treatment, while the deceased were deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.
