…Inaugurates 2019 Campaign Organization

Governor Udom Emmanuel has urged everyone to join him in condemning the invasion of the residence of the South South leader, Chief Edwin Clarke, saying it was a very sad experience for a 92 year old peace advocate.

He urged security agents to avoid actions that are capable of plunging the nation into avoidable crises, saying such treatment on the South South leader, has never been meted on any leader from another region in the past.

Governor Emmanuel spoke when he inaugurated the Divine Mandate Campaign Organization and the new campaign headquarters in Uyo.

He described members of the campaign organisation as selfless Akwa Ibomites who have accepted to work tirelessly towards the success of the Akwa Ibom project.

Inaugurating the organisation, Governor Emmanuel said history will speak favourably about the members as people who made sacrifices for the sake of the future of the state.

He thanked the former Governor Idongesit Nkanga -led campaign organisation for opting to contribute towards the success of the Peoples Democratic Party, which he described as the most formidable political structure in Nigeria.

“I appreciate those our brothers that came back. At times if you don’t go and see what is happening outside, you won’t know the worth of what you had inside.”

Mr Emmanuel assured that the unity and love existing within the party, covers every old and returning members, saying “the family is united and nothing can divide us.”

He sued for commitment and hard work from the PDP family, with the optimism that their efforts shall be rewarded with success in 2019.

“Nigerians require that PDP should return to power in 2019, may God grant Nigerians that request in 2019. That PDP must return to Aso Rock.”

He used the opportunity to urge aspirants to embrace peace and adhere to zoning in their aspirations.

“If you are unable to win on ground, don’t think you have lost, not at all, your brother won, hug him, promise to support him; If only two of you remained in the race, offer to be his campaign manager,” Mr Emmanuel advised.

Speaking earlier, the Director General of the Divine Mandate Campaign Organization, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga, said the state found in the Governor, a leader with wise judgement and sound integrity.

Nkanga said the members inaugurated were only a representation of the millions of Akwa Ibomites who were strongly behind the Governor’s re-election.

He said the members are ready to work round the clock, describing the Governor as the only aspirant that has set up a team, and a campaign office, which shows preparedness and effective planning.

Prayers of dedication were offered to God by Archbishop Cletus Bassey of the Destiny Mission and former state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.
