As the Senate President, and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential hopeful, Dr. Bukola Saraki continues his nation-wide consultations with party leaders and delegates, Chairman of the PDP in Rivers State, Bro. Felix Obuah has applauded his bold and courageous moves towards actualizing his aspiration.
Bro. Obuah who was speaking at the PDP State Secretariat, Port Harcourt on Thursday while receiving the Senate President and his entourage, assured Dr. Saraki that nobody can stop his Presidential aspiration, if God wills it to happen.
His words: “If today, God says you will be the President of this country, nobody, I repeat nobody can stop you. We are praying for you; be rest assured that that desire that is burning in you will come to fulfillment”.
The State PDP Chairman stated that Senator Saraki possessed the requisite qualifications to lead the country in the capacity of President but stressed that only the Almighty has the final say in the affairs of men.
Bro. Obuah affirmed that as a Christian and firm believer in God, he is confident that the voice of the people is the voice of God, urging the PDP Presidential aspirant not to worry because, according to him, the people have said it loud and clear that he is eminently qualified.
“What do I have to say than to assure you that you are at home in Rivers State. Everyone in the State is happy with your antecedents and the fight to defend democracy in this country. You have saved us and you have saved Nigeria. If there is any man in PDP who has demonstrated the will and zeal to lead this country, we think that that man is you”, Bro. Obuah declared amid shouts of ‘Go Nigeria, Go Saraki’, the campaign slogan of the Bukola Saraki Campaign Organization.
Earlier, Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki had told the delegates that he was in the State to solicit their support as partners in the Nigerian project, adding that Rivers State is known for its sacrifices in promotion of democracy in the country.
He said he strongly believes that he is in partnership with Rivers State in the quest to liberate the country from the shackles of oppression which are being foisted on the people by the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government.
“We are both playing a role to ensure that this democracy is defended. We are doing whatever we can do to ensure that there is justice and to fight the oppressors. You have been doing that in Rivers State and that, we are also doing at the National Assembly in Abuja”, said the Presidential Aspirant.
Dr. Saraki used the forum to commend the bravery displayed by Hon. Boma Goodhead during the recent illegal occupation of the National Assembly by security forces, adding that that singular act by Hon. Goodhead corroborates his position that Rivers State is a strong ally in the enthronement of justice and fairplay in the country.
In his speech, Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ikwuinyi Owaji Ibani described the Senate President as a household name known for his untiring advocacy for truth, justice and the rule of law.
“If my remarks have that as a foundation, it follows by implication that he is eminently qualified for the office he is seeking”, Ikwuinyi said.
The House Speaker praised Saraki for his selfless disposition towards the cause of the masses, adding that the House would give him the necessary support because of that singular trait.
The Executive Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Hon. Samuel Nwanosike who spoke on behalf of the local government chairmen, thanked the Senate President for ‘teaching Nigerians that democracy can be defended’.
He assured the Presidential Aspirant that Rivers State is ‘100% PDP’, adding that the noise being made in Abuja about any other party is what he called ‘mere noise’.
Nwanosike reaffirmed that Rivers people are solidly behind Governor Wike, stressing that wherever and whoever Wike follows is the best judgment. His words, “Wike believes 100% in the Nigerian project and is prepared to give his all to have a better Nigeria come 2019”.
