The Appeal panel set up by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to look into the grievances arising from the governorship primary election in Imo State, has affirmed the election of Ugwumba Uche Nwosu the candidate of the party for the 2019 governorship election in the state.
The panel, which was headed by a former governor of Edo State, Prof. Osunbor Oserheimen, also dismissed the petitions filed by other governorship aspirants challenging the results of the election and also which seeking a total cancellation of the primaries.
The petitioners, Chucks Ololo, Chris Nlemoha and Chima Anozie, had in their separate petitions, claimed that the exercise was marred by irregularities, which made it impossible for them and their supporters to participate in the primary.
However the panel after its deliberations, adopted in whole the report of the Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Agbabiaka’s governorship election primary committee which conducted the election.
Efforts to reach the aggrieved parties on the decision of the panel were not successful.
