The Nigerian Senate Yesterday Resolved TO visit The Government of Abia State And the Umuimo Community in Osisioma Local Government Area of the State over the Pipeline Explosion that occurred Last week.
The Senate Resolutions followed a Motion of Urgent Public Importance brought by the Senator Representing Abia Central Senatorial District Senator Theodore Orji,drawing the attention of the Senate of the Negligence of the Management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC) in Osisioma Branch.
Senator Theodore Orji cited order 42 & 52 and spoke on the pipeline explosion in Abia State due to the negligence of duty by NNPC staff that led to the loss of 150 lives.
The villagers had gone to scoop oil from the leakage as a means of livelihood when the explosion occurred.
The Senator said the Local Government Area Chairman had Severally Invited the Osisioma Branch Manager to a meeting but he never honored any of the Invitation.
The Senate Resolved among other Things to Visit the State and the Community where the Incident took place
