Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, will deliver the 3rd Convocation Lecture of the Gregory University Uturu, Abia State, on Thursday 25th November 2018.
According to the letter of invitation from the university endorsed by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Augustine A. Uwakwe, Governor Ikpeazu who is also a former University Don and the ‘Distinguished Convocation Lecturer’ will be speaking on: “The Pathways to the Development of Africa”
The invitation reads in part: “I write on the authority of our University Chancellor, the Governing Council, Senate and Congregation of Gregory University, Uturu, Abia State, Nigeria to invite you to serve as our Distinguished Convocation Lecturer for our forthcoming Convocation Ceremonies scheduled for the period 25th to 27th October, 2018.
“I am to stress Sir that the selection of Your Excellency for this important assignment is in obvious recognition of your many contributions and tireless commitments to the upliftment of Education, Capacity Building and Poverty Alleviation, not only in the West African Region but also at the wider International level.”
It will be recalled that Governor Ikpeazu, who is a former lecturer and Head of Department of Biochemistry of Enugu State University of Science and Technology, periodically lectures students of Biochemistry even while serving as Abia State Governor.
