Embattled Minister of Transportation, Mr Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi was absent from the commissioning of the Port Harcourt International Airport Terminal because the Presidency refused to allow him deliver an address.
Scannews learnt that the Minister arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja on Thursday morning and was shown the vetted programme which excluded his name.
Ministry of Transportation sources stated that Amaechi urged the Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika to altar the programme to allow him speak at the event holding in Port Harcourt.
Sirika pointedly told the Amaechi that two Ministers cannot speak at one event from the same Ministry. It was at this point that Amaechi angrily opted to stay away from Port Harcourt.
It was gathered that the Presidency deleted the name of the Minister of Transportation from the list of speakers because it wanted an apolitical event.
Aside Amaechi, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Transportation and all the directors of the Ministry and relevant parastatals were on ground at the event.
Following the absence of Amaechi, the programme was civil with no group acting irresponsibly.
