The factions of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom state have reconciled and collapsed their different structures into one to support Mr Nsima Ekere, its gubernatorial candidate in the 2019 poll.

Before this decision, factions loyal to Senator James Akpanudoedehe have been unhappy with the emergence of Mr. Nsima Ekere as the gubernatorial candidate for the party.

However, the former minister for state, FCT, on Saturday in Uyo called on his supporters to forgo their grievances and join hands to support the party’s gubernatorial candidate.

He stated that the best option is for them to support all the party’s candidate from President to the House of Assembly because the reconciliation committee has promised to integrate the factions into the party

He urged his members to remain sincere to the party and not to be seen to be supporting the opposition.

“Through the wisdom of our elders, we have decided to stick, stay and be loyal to our party, the APC. I am your leader, follow me. I have asked Ekere to come and see you people.

“We are afraid of one thing, we don’t want to repeat the past, so don’t worry about the past; let us work, let us support our party. I know we are aggrieved and we have two options and the other one is not a good option. The only option is for us to support our party and all the candidates of our party.

“It is better for us to stay and build our party instead of building another party. I understand your pains but you must listen to the elders and stay. We are working with the party to integrate everybody and you must not give them the bullet to use against you by not being sincere. Work for your party and be loyal.

“You must not be seen to support PDP again. If you have done it, stop. If I am a selfish leader, I will mislead you but I must think about how to be in government to take care of you. I am your leader and I have given you directions. If you have been writing against Nsima Ekere, stop. He is our candidate,” he said.
