A Makurdi Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, ordered that a 60-year old man, Terhemen Nyajo, who police accused of allegedly forcing his nephew, Ushahembe Wuese, to have sex with him, be remanded in prison custody.

Nyajo, who lives behind Akpehe Market, Makurdi is charged with an unnatural offence punishable under Section 285 of the Penal Code laws of Benue, 2004.

Magistrate Peter Chaha, who gave the order, adjourned the matter until Jan 16, for further mention.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Regina Ishaya told the court that the victim had reported the matter at the ‘E’ Division Police Station, Makurdi, on Nov 15.

The prosecutor told the court the accused confessed to the act during investigations.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Ishaya prayed the court to remand the accused because the police were still conducting “further investigations.”
