Kaduna South attacked, 14 dead, 17 in critical condition.

An unconfirmed number of gunmen on Sunday night, reportedly attacked Ungwan Paa-Gwandara village in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and killed 14-persons with 17-others in critical condition.

Joshua Paul, a resident of the community told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Kafanchan on Monday, that the victims were at a wedding when they were attacked at about 8:00pm.

His words, “Nine persons were killed on the spot while five died this morning at the Kafanchan General Hospital.

“Seventeen others including six children who suffered severe degree of bullet injuries are still in critical condition”.

Victoria Martins, a married woman and a victim who was being treated at the Kafanchan General Hospital told NAN that women and children were most hit during the attack.

Peter Averik, Jema’a local government chairman told NAN that he was yet to be fully briefed on the incident but that the police had since been drafted to the affected community.

The police were yet to comment on the incident as efforts to get their reaction proved abortive but a source said the command would issue a statement later.
