The Rivers born politician and philanthropist who is also the governorship Candidate of ACCORD party for the 2019 gubernatorial election, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, has declared that the forthcoming general election will be violence free.
Chief DLB made this declaration in a press briefing while attending the 84th Birthday anniversary of Eze Godwin, the Ochi Mba of Umuanyagu Community in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.
He said, “the unfortunate expectation is that there will be violence in 2019, but I can tell us that there will be no violence. What 2019 offers is an opportunity for Rivers people to put their destinies in their hands and to introduce something new into their lives. They have had no varieties in their lives, just the vanities of the rulers which they’ve had to endure for so long. And that has become exceedingly distatseful to every Rivers man, woman and child.”
“So, Etche people are going to go out in their numbers to cast their votes. For the first time since 1999, an Etche son has the ticket to run for the senatorial seat. That is something that the people of Etche are so happy about. So, they are going to come out in their numbers; they have taken ownership of this process. It’s about them, it’s about righting the wrongs that have been on since 1999. Etche people will take the advantage to vote for their son and for the Accord Party which has given them this opportunity.”
While responding to questions about his plans for Etche people when he enters office as the governor, he said, “One of the things we can do for Etche people is to ensure that industries are sighted in Etche; all the developments that will come as a result can only be imagined. We shall work closely with members of the National Assembly to ensure that the plan to establish Federal University of Agriculture is materialized. Etche people have been neglected for so long, but their cries have been heard by God, the Accord party is positioned to right the wrongs in Etche and in Rivers State at large.”
Chief Lulu-Briggs is a strong contender in the 2019 race to Rivers Brick House. Many have described him as a determined politician with unimaginable courage and strength of character. It is also believed that he is a strong grassroot mobilizer.
