According to a seven-member disciplinary committee led by Goddy Nnorom, it has found that a male was purportedly nominated as a Women Leader in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Isuamawu Ward 4 in the Isuikwuato local government area of Abia State.

To the ire of the women and young party members in Ward 4, the committee also reported that an elderly woman was chosen as Youth Leader.

In light of this, the disciplinary committee has suggested suspending the PDP’s crisis-causing members as well as the members participating in the anomaly.

According to him, the disciplinary committee carefully considered the many violations in accordance with the 2017 PDP Constitution (as amended), citing a recent Supreme Court decision that upholds the idea that party membership is a matter within a political party.

The party contended that while there were young women and eligible youths to fill the slots, the selections went against natural sequence.

The recommendations of the PDP disciplinary committee, which was chaired by Goddy Nnorom, include the following:

“Recognition that the so named infractions violated key sections of the 2017 PDP Constitution (as amended), including sections 58(1)-(a)(b)(d)(e)(g)(i).

“Adoption of the penalty as outlined in Section 59(1)(d) of the 2017 PDP Constitution (as amended) in response to the violations”.
