Elder statesman and renowned business mogul, Chief Okebulu Jombo, has called on all Abians, especially those resident in Aba, to support the re-election bid of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

Speaking at his Aba residence when the Governor paid him a visit as part of his ongoing campaign in Aba North LGA, Chief Jombo said: “if not for any other thing our people should re-elect you (Ikpeazu) for restoring security in Aba as well as ensuring that the city returns to its bursting old self.”

Continuing, Chief Jombo, who is a frontline importer and major operator in the hospitality business in Aba, narrated to the Governor his personal experience that led him to leave Aba and relocate to Abuja.

According to him, “I left this great city that has favored me and others greatly when the menace of kidnapping and insecurity plagued this place. They kidnapped my friend and I heard I was the second on their list and had to leave with my family. I don’t know the details of what you did to return security to Aba but whatever you did please keep it up. We all love Aba and I am happy to observe that you have done what many thought was impossible along Brass-Faulks Road and my conscience will not permit me not to vote for you and also campaign for your re-election with everything I have. Abia North is my home base and I assure you that our people will vote massively for you because you have done well and deserve smooth re-election.”

Responding, Governor Ikpeazu who was accompanied on the visit by the Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu and other top Government officials, thanked Chief Jombo for the endorsement and assured him that his administration will do more to mainstream trade and commerce as well as further improve security in Aba and Abia State.

“My assurance to you is that we will not rest on our laurels as we consider this job a divine assignment to serve our people and change the Abia narrative for the better. Your endorsement, support and kind words, mean a lot to me as you are one of our elders that made Aba what it is in terms of trade and commerce. Our leader. I assure you that we will do much more in the coming months and years because we understand the Aba narrative and what the city means to Abians and Ndigbo.”
