The Director General of President Muhammadu Buhari Campaign Council and Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has described the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike’s ambition to have a re-election into the Brick House in Rivers State come Saturday 9th March, 2019 as one associated with brutality and killings. He stated that right from the commencement of the Wike’s Administration, the State had continuously witness unrest and wanton killings.

Amaechi spoke in Abuja, at a Post- election Media briefing of Muhammadu Buhari’s Campaign Council on Tuesday.

According to Amaechi, “Nobody has ever questioned Governor Wike on the uncountable number of killings that has taken place in Rivers State since he became Governor”.

“Just because of one man’s ambition for a second term, so, all Rivers people should die?”. He queried.

Amaechi noted, Governor Wike established a Para-Military Organization in the State even when the constitution forbids him from doing so, instead of collaborating with the military to fight crime and bring about lasting peace in Rivers State. Hear him,” The Governor established Neighbourhood Watch and armed them instead of relying on the military to protect the people .Which law in Nigeria empowers a Governor to establish a Para-military organisation? None, if you ask me. It’s just about one man’s ambition who wants to be Governor and his people being killed ceaselessly”.

Amaechi recalled that the violence that characterised the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections in some parts of the State was orchestrated by PDP thugs.

“Four APC members were killed in Andoni, the LGA of PDP National Chairman a day to the elections. Not only did they killed the four persons they cut off their heads and ran away with their corpses. Majority of the people killed were APC members.”

“In Abonnema, a Lt. Col. who was guarding INEC staff was killed by hired killers who came and opened fire on the military men. Two to three days after the elections, hoodlums went back to Abonnema and killed two Soldiers and cart away their guns . In Emohua LGA, when it was time to collate results gun men invaded the collation center and started shooting, and we knew that they were PDP thugs”.

While also criticizing Governor Wike for his inability to govern the people, Amaechi said within a short period of stay in office, Wike made away with N117 billion belonging to Rivers people as alleged by the EFCC.

Amaechi however thanked Nigerians for re-electing President Muhammadu Buhari, assuring that the President would perform better in his second term.
