The Peoples Democratic Party, Abia State Chapter, is deeply excited to congratulate the Governor of the State, Leader of the Party and her Governorship Candidate in 2019 governorship election, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D, on his victorious emergence as re-elected Governor of Abia State.

The Party, in a release issued at Umuahia on Sunday 10th March, 2019, expressed delight that the people of the State showed understanding and appreciation of Governor Ikpeazu’s honest and committed efforts to advance the collective interest of the State, despite unprecedented vigorous determination by few disgruntled inordinate politicians in the State to distract him during the first three years of his first tenure.

PDP, while assuring the people of Abia State of a more enhanced quality of governance by the PDP government of Governor Ikpeazu, vividly asserted that it will continue to partner with the Governor in his vision of making the State a better place to live or do business in.

In its conclusion, the Party also congratulated all candidates of other Political Parties that participated in the election for their expected sportsmanship.

The Party strongly wishes that, in acknowledgement of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s 261,127 votes as against 99,574 and 64,366 scored by Uche Ogah of APC and Alex Otti of APGA, respectively, the futility of going to Court by other candidates should not be contemplated.

PDP strongly hopes that, as respectable indigenes of the State, they and their respective Political Parties will accept the reality of the political configuration of the State, by respecting and accepting the result of the governorship election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The Party is of the opinion that, unlike what happened sequel to 2015 governorship election, the candidates who were unsuccessful in the contest would place the State first by manifesting patriotism and altruism, instead of selfishly negatively navigating towards a destination that could only, at best, be avoidable distraction.
