Following a hint by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, that President Muhammadu Buhari might dissolve his cabinet before his May 29 terminal date, jostle for ministerial appointments by the All Progressive Congress in Abia State has teared the Party Apart,PUO Reports gathered.
Adesina had some weeks ago hinted that Buhari might dissolve his cabinet before May 29 to pave the way for a fresh team that would help him navigate the new tenure he won last Saturday.
“One thing about governance is that the first mandate was for four years and it lapses on May 29, and shortly before May 29, the president is likely going to officially dissolve government, that is the way it is usually done – he says thank you to everybody he has called to work with him and then, he dissolves that government officially. Then when he is inaugurated for a second term, he now reconstitutes government. He appoints his personal aides; he forms the cabinet; he appoints people to fill other positions,” he said.
It was gathered that the All Progressive Congress has been splited into two factions,Ukwa Ngwa and Old Bende Factions with separate Leadership and interest.
While the Former Governor of Abia State and Senator Elect for Abia North Dr Orji Uzor Kalu is leading that of Old Bende Bloc,Senator Nkechi Justina Nwogu,pro Chancellor of the University of Calabar is leading that of the Ukwa Ngwa Bloc.
The Camp of Senator Nkechi Nwogu and two terms Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who also lost the 2019 Abia Central Senatorial District election to Senator Theodore Orji has already began the campaign to grab the ministerial slot for Abia.
The Camp had publicly launched campaign against the current Minister of Trade and Investment Mr Okechukwu Enelamah who was accused of working with the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) during the just concluded Governorship election in Abia State.
PUO Reports gathered some sources close to the former Governor of Abia State Dr Orji Uzor Kalu,that the Igbere born politician is scheming to install his younger brother Mr Mascort Uzor Kalu as Minister in other to strengthen his political influence before the 2023 Governorship election in Abia State.
It was gathered that camp Dr Uche Ogah , the 2019 Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress in Abia State had already tagged Orji Uzor Kalu as a betrayal,accusing the Former Abia State Governor of betraying Dr Uche Ogah few hours to the March 9th Governorship election in the State after using him to win Isiukwuato during the National Assembly Election in Abia State.
The Camps within the All Progressive Congress in Abia State had been holding series of meetings over the Abia State Ministerial slot.
Many of the Chieftains from Ukwa Ngwa were accused of collecting money from the Peoples Democratic Party to work against their Party Candidates during the just concluded election.
