ABSU MATRICULATES 7,153 Students For The 2018/2019 Academic Session

The Abia State University has matriculated about 7,153 students (Seven Thousand, One hundred and Fifty Three) Students for the 2018/2019 Academic Session 37th Matriculation exercise, at the University Pavilion , Uturu.


In his Matriculation address, the Vice Chancellor, Professor E. Uche Ikonne, disclosed that the admission quota of the University by the National University Commission (NUC) has been on the increase each year, as a result of the enhanced serviced delivery which reflects in the improved ranking of the University in her academic content, administrative policy, and employability of her graduates, and other areas.

He thanked the Governor, and visitor to the University, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D for his uncommon academic humility and visible support to the University which had enabled her to maintain an uninterrupted academic calendar for the past three years, and also expressed gratitude for the appointment of a seasoned academic, and custodian of rich culture of the TIV nation, His Royal Majesty, Oreivirgh Professor James Ayatse Tor Tiv Begha V Tiv, as the Honorable Chancellor, and the guidance of the Governing Council, led by a former Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Senator Adolf Wabara.
The Vice Chancellor advised the Matriculating Students to key into the “OUR STORY MUST CHANGE” mantra of his administration, which includes Online Course Registration, Competitive hard work, good dress code, among others, warning them to desist from all forms of exam practice, and belonging to any illicit organization.
In a short sermon, Venerable Ugochukwu Ihechukwu, the Chaplain of the Anglican Chapel of Divine Favor (ANCODIF), taking his text from Daniel Chapter 1 verse 8, 17-21, admonished Students to make efforts like Daniel, to be devoted to God, and live exemplary life that brings promotion and glory to God.
Highpoint of the event was the administration of the Matriculation oath by the Registrar, Dr (Mrs) Evelyn Iheukwumere on the Students, and presentation of the Matriculants by the Deans of Faculty and their admission into various academic programs of the University.
