The National Youth Council of Nigeria has warned some person to stop using the name of President Muhammadu Buhari to lie.

In a statement press release and signed by the NYCN, President, Bello Bala Shagari.

He said, It has come to the notice of the National Youth Council of Nigeria that some mischief makers have been going around falsely adopting the name of the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari to threaten the NYCN with the objective of creating disunity among the Nigerian Youth and also impersonate the leadership of NYCN.

It has also been brought to our notice that these mischief makers have commercialized the youth struggle by the means of collecting monies from individuals and legitimizing fake youth leaders to further create commotion among the youth.

The leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria would like to warn against the use of the good name of President Muhammadu Buhari, in the guise of “the Presidency” in threatening the NYCN and creating disunity among the Nigerian Youth. We as well want to warn against the use of our name in events without our consent.

We must remember that the youth council is still healing from the wounds of a 10 years crises which has halted its activities and gave it a bad name in the eyes of the public. The election that brought the newly elected exco in Gombe, which was supervised by the Federal Ministry for Youth & Sports development is among the greatest achievements of the Muhammadu Buhari led administration.

Therefore, it is a legacy that the government must stand to protect, and punish mischief makers who are all out to destroy all the good things that has been done by the present administration. We the Nigerian Youth see the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as an opportunity to stabilize our constituency and fight corruption.

As it stands today, while we are fighting Corruption in the council, corruption is fighting back. Hence, we appeal for the support of the government to succeed.

While we assure the Nigerian youth that the crises resurfacing in the youth council will soon be quenched, we want to appeal to all state chapters and voluntary youth organizations of the NYCN to remain firm and peaceful throughout this trying period.
