The wife of Abia State Governor Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu, has given gifts and promised to pay hospital bills of Mrs. Nnenna Okocha, from Nkporo in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State who gave birth to quintuplets in the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, the state capital.
The Governor’s wife who stated that the gesture is in the spirit of Easter celebration, which signifies the resurrection of Our Saviour Jesus Christ, also visited other nursing mothers at the hospital.
According to her, “when other women are praying for one, God gave you five, so we have come to rejoice with you and to give you and the babies gifts”.
The Abia First Lady charged the hospital staff to employ all their expertise to ensure that all the nursing mothers go home safely as she made available gifts, wrappers and other donations to 27 nursing mothers in the hospital.
The mother of the quintuplets, Mrs. Nnenna Okocha, revealed that though she lost two of the babies she is happy with the birth of the quintuplets and thanked the wife of Abia State Governor for visiting her and promising to offset her hospital bills.
The Head of Administration, FMCU, Mr. Rowland Ekpomu, who represented the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, expressed appreciation to Mrs Ikpeazu stating that what the wife of Abia State Governor has done for the nursing mothers is second to none.
According to him, ” there are many of them here who could not pay their bills but the Governor’s wife has promised to do that for them and we are grateful for that”.
