The Students’ Union Electoral Committee, ELCOM, on Thursday declared Presidential candidate, Faruku Barade a 400 level Law student as the winner of the thursday’s President-elect in the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
ELCOM Chairman, Dr. Bashar achida, who declared the results around 10:20pm said Faruku Barade polled 3595 votes to defeat his rival, Abdulrahaman Abubakar Funtua a 400 level from faculty of Agriculture, who polled 2314 votes.
According to Achida, “that Faruku Barade, having satisfied the law and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared winner and is returned elected.”
He added that the Certificate of Return would be issued to the winner of various offices by 10.00am on Friday.
In the results announced by Achida, Barade defeated Funtua with a wide margin of 1281 to ensure that the power returned back to Faculty of Law.
Barade’s victory came in 28 polling units across the three campuses where he won election, while Funtua won in 2 polling units.
Barade won his main opponent Faculty polling unit, Faculty of Agriculture (Agric theater) with 3595 votes, while Funtua losses with 2314 votes.
