The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council, has felicitated with the outgoing Minister of Transportation and former Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi on his 54th birthday anniversary.
The Union in a statement signed by the Secretary, Ike Wigodo, on Sunday, described Amaechi as a worthy son of Rivers State and an epitome of exemplary leadership in governance.
The statement commended the Minister of Transportation for contributing to the development of Rivers State and the nation at large.
The NUJ noted that Amaechi left some legacy projects during his eight year tenure as a governor, and also brought pride and glory to Rivers State during his four year stewardship as a federal minister.
“We recall that among Amaechi’s enduring legacies in office as a governor is the ultra modern Ernest Ikoli Press Centre his administration built for the Rivers State NUJ and the official car given to the office of the Chairman of NUJ in the State.
“As a friend of the media, the entire journalists in Rivers State felicitate with the former governor and pray God to grant him good health, long life and more prosperous years ahead to serve the country in greater capacity”, the statement said.
