The attention of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Abia State chapter has been drawn to a press statement by some strangers and political rascals led by one Mr Nkem Okoro and funded by a disgruntled paymaster- Dr Alex Otto who now plans to destabilize a party that has given him so much in return for nothing.
The political jobbers are purporting themselves as the chairman and Exco of the party in Abia State claiming to have acquired their mandate from a strange and non existing court ruling.
It is public knowledge that our party had just concluded its wards, LGAs, States and National Congresses over a week ago and the leadership that emerged in the Abia State chapter is also in the public domain. The general public and supporters of our party across the state are devised to disregard these noisome distractions by mischief makers.
The leadership of APGA, Abia state and indeed country wide is focused on rebuilding and repositioning the party to discharge its covenant of exemplary and incontrovertible leadership to the people of Abia and Nigeria in general come 2023 and therefore refuse to be distracted.
We want to use this opportunity to inform our members and supporters that this charade is a failed attempt by the strangers, losers and their pay masters to misinform and hoodwink part of our membership whom they intend to carry to an already determined political party in their strange power escapades.
It will also be expedient to draw the attention of the Inspector General of Police, Department of Security Services(DSS) Abia state, and the general public to an illegal and unconstitutional invasion of the state party office of APGA at number 74 School Road, Umuahia this early morning by some hoodlums and criminal elements led by one Mike Akpara acting on the behest of Dr Alex Otti, former APGA Governorship Candidate in the just concluded 2019 general election.
The criminal elements heavily armed with illegal weapons invaded the party office around 6 am this morning, the 7th day of June, 2019 where they held the party state Secretary, Elder Sunday Onukwubiri hostage and confiscated his mobile phones from 7:45 am till 10:30am.
That the state working Committee of our great party ably led by Rev. Augustine Ehiemere scheduled an inaugural meeting of Abia APGA Exco today at the state party Secretariat before the criminals took over the office and destroyed valuable party properties.
The inaugural meeting of the SWC slated today is sequel to a successful and peaceful congresses held by the National Leadership of our great party led by Ozonkpu Victor Ike Oye.
It is very disheartening that the criminal elements who acted on the instructions of their political pay master, Dr. Alex Otti invaded the party office so as to create a crises situation in the party. Let it be known that APGA in Abia State is one indivisible body and cannot succumb to the antics of never do well politicians whose intentions are to use the party as their personal commercial enterprise.
It is also worthy of note that while the hoodlums were in the party office, the state Chairman of the party Rev. Augustine Ehiemere with some state Working Committee members went to the commissioner of police, Abia State to inform him of the illegal invasion of the party office and detention of the State Secretary of the party by the hoodlums, but the commissioner of Police declined to take any step to remedy the situation.
May I also draw your attention to the open boasting of the political jobber called Mike Akpara who bragged that they have all it takes to kill, yet they could not prosecute the 2019 elections where the party performed abysmally low and did not make any meaningful impact.
As the Abia State leadership of our great party reiterates our loyalty and unflinching support to our National Leadership under the able Chairmanship of Ozonkpu Dr. Victor Ike Oye and the national party leader, Dr. Willie Obiano, the performing Governor, we say to all detractors of APGA that we refused to be deterred or distracted from making the APGA dream a reality in Abia State.
Once more, we enjoin the general public to ignore these irritants and their false claims. APGA remains one strong, indivisible and focused political family in Abia State.
