Orientation: Okowa tasks corps members on Entrepreneurship

Delta State Governor Sen Ifeayi Arthur Okowa, has urged the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to focus more on skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development during their service year in the state.

Okowa made the call on Thursday during the swearing-in and official opening ceremony of the 2019 Batch ‘B’ stream 1 orientation for corps members deployed to the state at the NYSC Camp in Iseluku , Aniocha Local Government area of the state.

The governor, who was represented by the secretary to the state government, Mr Chiedu Ebie esq, advised the corps members to make good use of the opportunity the management of the scheme had offered in entrepreneurship.

He noted that such activities would help to equip themselves towards self-employment after service.He also urge corp members to utilize this opportunity and be productive during their service year as government will reward performance of Corp members who distinguished themselves.

Okowa assured that his administration would continue to provide the enabling environment for the scheme to thrive in the state.

Mr Omotade Ayodele Benjamin, State Coordinator, NYSC, said that a total of 2,600 corps members were registered for the three-week orientation.

Omotade thanked the governor for the renovation and the provison of basic and sports facilities to the orientation camp and to the chairman of the State Nysc board Barr Chiedu Ebie, for his immense support in making the camp conducive for corps members.

He urged the corps members to obey all camp rules and regulations to avoid sanctions.

The Chief Judge of Delta, Justice Marshal Umukoro, who was represented by Hon Justice Ogisi, administered the oath of allegiance on the corps members.
