Wike declares support for the Educational Development of Anglican Diocese of Ahoada

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that his administration will continue to support the the educational advancement of Anglican Diocese of Ahoada.

He spoke on Saturday when he made a donation to the building of a Diocesan Educational Center for the Church of Nigeria, Anglican communion, Diocese of Ahoada.

Governor Wike said, the donation is based on background of strengthening the church and spread of the word of God in the State having declared Rivers State a Christian State.

“I believe the scripture that says, build me a house and I will establish it forever. This is why in both my private and public life, I support every effort to build the church of Christ and spread the gospel,” he said.

Speaking during the 3rd Session of the 5th Synod of the Diocese of Ahoada, theme: Vessels of Honor, at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Ahoada, on Saturday, the Governor urged christian faithfuls to keep praying for the state noting that its persecution from a section of the country has increased since he declared the state a Christian State.

He however assured, “ I will remain steadfast and committed to supporting the church of Christ in the state and the gates of hell will not prevail against us”, he said.

According to him, he would continue to support the church generally and in particular the Anglican church as a member and the Ahoada Dioceses being that his wife, Hon. Justice suzzette Nyesom-Wike is from Ahoada community.

The Governor was represented by the secretary to the State Government, Dr Tammy Danagogo.

Earlier, the Bishop Dioceses of Ahoada, the Rt. Rev. Clement Nathan Ekpeye thanked the Governor for the donation he descried as unexpected and prayed for him.
He further gave a comprehensive report of the diocese including the launch and sale of the Anglican Cable Network Nigeria (Television) now available on GOTV.

Justice of the Rivers State Judiciary and member of the Anglican Church, Hon. Justice (Dame) Chioma Okirie thanked the Governor onbehalf of the church.
