UNIMED Student, Favour Mowaoluwa Won 2019 FG Scholarship Award

A 200 level Medicine and Surgery Student of the University of Medical Sciences, UNIMED, Ondo, Favour Mowaoluwa Agun has won 2019 Federal Government Scholarship award following a brilliant performance in an examination conducted earlier this year.
The South West Zonal Coordinator, Federal Scholarship Board, Akure Mr. Michael Ogunwale on behalf of the Board and Federal Ministry of Education on Monday 28th July, 2019 presented the award to the Vice Chancellor, UNIMED, Prof. Friday Okonofua in his office.
Mr. Ogunwale congratulated the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Okonofua and the entire university community on the success, given that the institution is barely four years old.
“The scholarship is for indigent and brilliant students across Nigeria’. Many students sat for the examination in January throughout the 36 States of the Federation and because of the excellent performance of your student, Favour Agun, he has won the award for Medicine”, Ogunwale said.
He Further revealed that the award is for the current academic session until the end of his study in the university.
The Vice-Chancellor, University of Medical Sciences, UNIMED, Ondo, Prof. Friday Okonofua appreciated the Zonal Coordinator, Federal Scholarship Board on the award and lauded the Federal Ministry of Education and the Scholarship Board on the initiative as it will encourage students to work hard at attaining excellence.
Prof. Okonofua said a lot has been invested in ensuring that students of the university are well trained and that the management of the institution will not rest on its oars until the university attains desired goals.
The Vice Chancellor thereafter congratulated the recipient of the scholarship, Mr. Favour Agun on his brilliant performance and presented the award letter to him.
While appreciating the scholarship coordinator and the VC, Agun expressed his excitement being the first student to have won the scholarship since the establishment of the institution
“I am highly elated about this award especially when I heard the VC saying that I was the first UNIMED student to get this award. Our school might be new and people outside might look down on us but we (students) know what we stand to gain every single time we go to our classes because we know the type of lecturers that we have and the quality of facilities available to us”, Agun said.
