…Improved Sanitation in Port Harcourt excites

The Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), Bro. Felix Obuah has expressed happiness with the current state of cleanliness of Port Harcourt, the State capital and its environs.

In a press statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Bro Felix Obuah, Sole Administrator, Rivers State Waste Management Agency, RIWAMA,  Jerry Needam

Bro Obuah said on Sunday, August 11, 2019, shortly after his regular monitoring exercise that took him to some major streets and roads in Port Harcourt, the State capital and its environs, noted that the current efforts of Service Providers have helped the Agency to achieve tremendous success in service delivery.

He remarked with pleasure that Port Harcourt, the State capital and its environs now wear a better look and further expressed joy that the Service Providers were working in tandem with the set objectives of the Agency, adding that such cooperation was necessary to actualize the desire of the Wike administration in keeping Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital and its environs clean .

Bro. Obuah assured Service Providers that the Agency would do everything possible, including meeting up their obligations as a way of motivating them into more productivity.

“Our Service Providers from what we saw today are now living up to expectations and have helped us to achieve tremendous success in our strive to clean Port Harcourt and its environs. While we thank Service Providers for what we saw today, it is a call for them to not only sustain the tempo, but to do more”, the RIWAMA boss declared.

Bro. Obuah stressed that the dream to attain cleanliness of Port Harcourt, the State capital and its environs is a task that must be done, adding that with a little more effort from all Service Providers, the mission would surely be achieved.

The RIWAMA Sole Administrator, Bro Obuah noted that one major issue he observed during his monitoring exercise was the frequent breakdown of trucks, some according to the RIWAMA Boss are in very bad and terrible condition, while some Service Providers, he observed with sadness, operate without trucks and depend only on hiring of trucks to do their daily evaluation of wastes.

This sad condition of trucks and discovery that some Service Providers mainly depend on hiring of trucks as they don’t own trucks to do their evacuation of waste according to the Sole Administrator, hampers productivity, and it affects the daily evacuation of wastes by Service Providers.

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State Waste Management Agency, RIWAMA Bro Felix Obuah therefore, announced that the Agency has concluded plans with a reputable bank, to grant loan to Service Providers to purchase new trucks, to enable all Service Providers working with the Agency own a truck and operate happily and freely without challenges of trucks.

This new development of securing loan for Service Providers to own their trucks according to the RIWAMA boss is geared towards encouraging all Service Providers and would also ensure that Service Providers meet up the daily challenges of evacuation of Wastes and keep their areas and zones clean daily.

He assured Rivers people that with the facility that will be secured from the bank to enable Service Providers purchase new trucks, Rivers State will wear a cleaner look.
