The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria has bestowed, yet, another honour on the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji MNSE, as the DISTINGUISHED LAWMAKER OF OUR TIME.

The occasion which took place at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Aba, on Sunday, 25th of August, 2019, was part of activities marking the Church’s 2019 Youth Emphasis/35th Anniversary celebration. Presenting the Award to the Rt Hon Speaker on behalf of the church, Very Rev Bassey Umoh (Minister-in-Charge) and
Comr. Ikechukwu Ukonu (Youth President), said the church deemed it fit to invite and honour the Speaker based on his many benevolent attributes and humanitarian services he has been rendering to mankind to the glory of God. “Your good works go before you everywhere. Your service to God and humanity are incontrovertible and well documented. It is the pleasure of our church to share with you the joy that comes from selflessly serving God’s children in God’s Own State in your various capacities over the years. With this token of Award to you, we pray that God will strengthen and sustain you to keep doing the good work. We sincerely appreciate you”, he said.

Responding, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji who was represented by Hon Richard Enyinnaya Uko, expressed his gratitude to St Andrew’s (PCN), Aba, for the honour done him, saying that he realizes that when God lifts a man, it is for the purpose of affecting humanity positively. “I want to assure you that with your prayers and continued support, I will neither fail God nor disappoint humanity. We must continue to make life better for the people in our respective ways. I will continue to support the youth, women and other vulnerable members of our society to ensure that the prosperity of Abia is fully unlocked and secure both for today and the future.

“Let me also use this opportunity to urge the Church and, indeed, all Abians, to continue to support and pray for the government of Abia State as led by Dr Okezie Ikpeazu. It is Abians that elected him, we must support him to finish successfully because when he succeeds it is Abia that has succeeded. So, I say again, support and pray for him. Let me also urge us all to be law abiding, keep the peace and promote good neighbourliness among Abians and everyone. The Church should continue to preach and promote these ideals bequeathed to us by our Lord Jesus Christ for a greater Abia. Pray for me, pray for all our lawmakers, pray for Abia State House of Assembly, and pray for the prosperity of Abia State. Thank you and God bless you”, he concluded.
