Governor Okezie Ikpeazu today paid an unscheduled visit to the popular ISHI GATE in Umuahia today with a message to the traders to get ready to relocate to the new RELIEF MARKET AT AMUZUKWU in the next one month.
According to the Governor, “This is my first time of coming here to interact with the traders. For sometime now, the issue of decongesting this place has been on the front burner but I didn’t want to force people out of this place without providing them with an alternative. Now, we are developing a relief market at Amuzukwu. Work has reached advanced stages there. We will complete it in about two weeks. Sellers of perishable food items will occupy that market. It has everything you need like water, conveniences, security, etc. We cannot allow allow ISHI GATE to remain a market place. It is a major entry point into Umuahia. The rest of the traders will have to move to the Ubani Market”.
Earlier the Governor had visited the relief market currently being constructed at Amuzukwu where the contractor took him round with strong assurances that work will be completed there in two weeks or even less.
