Stigmatization has been one of the biggest barriers to eliminating the HIV/AIDS disease. The fear of segregation has made carriers reluctant to seek out medical care. It has made the populace reluctant to access testing and counselling services to know their status.

Great progress has been made over the years in the field of HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, with total cure on the horizon. However, progress in eliminating stigmatization has not been as successful.

It is against this backdrop that the wife of the Governor Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu and her Vicar Hope Foundation in collaboration with Global Initiative Against Stigma most graciously invites you the launch of the book “Surmounting Stigmatization In The Campaign Against HIV/AIDS” authored by Comrade Ugochukwu Nwankwo with a “Foreword” by Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu.
The Book Launch which is to be chaired by Barr Chris Ezem, Secretary to State Government, is scheduled for Wednesday October 2nd 2019. The venue is Michael Okpara Auditorium, Library Avenue, Umuahia, while time is 11 a.m.

The Chief Guest of Honour is the Deputy Governor the Right Honourable Ude Oko Chukwu, Special Guest of Honour is the Right Honourable Speaker, Engineer Chinedum Orji while the Chief Launcher is Engineer Nana Nwafor.

The book will be reviewed by Mr. Paddy Anyatonwu while the Project manager of Abia State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS Dr. Eme Ajike is co-host.
