Okowa Directs Commissioners To Give Priority Attention To Project Monitoring

The Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has directed commissioners in the State Executive Council (Exco) to give priority attention to monitoring of projects under their ministries, departments and agencies.

The directive was made known yesterday by the State Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, while addressing media representatives on the outcome of the State Executive Council Meeting at the new Government House, Asaba.

Mr Aniagwu, who was accompanied on the briefing by his economic planning counterpart, Mr Barry Gbe and the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okowa, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, said the state government would be focusing on completing all ongoing projects, adding that Exco formally endorsed the 2020 Budget.

According to him, “Commissioners must as a matter of necessity visit their projects and programmes and that contravention would not be tolerated.”

The information commissioner announced that as part of resolutions reached at the State Executive Council meeting, approvals were given for the construction of 2.2 km and 2.3 km roads cutting across Owa-Alero, Owa-Nta and Alisimie in Ika North East and Ika South Local Government Areas.

Mr Aniagwu also announced that Queens Street and adjoining streets, comprising 4.35 km concentric roads project in Ika South LGA was approved.

Other approvals of Exco, the commissioner said, included the recognition of Beneku Community was as a clan pending approval by the State Assembly, preparatory to appointing a traditional ruler for the community and Ifechukwude Chukwuka Okonjo II was as the traditional ruler of Ogwashi-Uku kingdom

The Exco, the commissioner stated, equally recognized Johnbull Kolokowei Ngulu I was as the Pere of Obolubiri Main Kingdom in Burutu LGA while Christopher Uzu was approved as the traditional ruler of Onicha-Olona.
