Two suspected rapists identified as Hycinth Chibuike, 18 and Uzoma Udensi, 16, have been remanded in prison custody for alleged rape of a 17 year old.
The Duo were sent to prison on two count charges of unlawful possession of firearms and having canal knowledge of the girl under duress.
The magistrate court sitting at Umuahia Federal High Court while hearing the case brought before it said the court does not have jurisdiction to entertain the two count charges punishable under Section 31 of Robbery Act 2004 and Section 3 of the Child Rights Act and therefore they are to be remanded at Nigerian Correctional Service, Afara pending the hearing of their cases.
The Case is to be transmitted to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) at the Ministry of Justice.
Their case was adjourned till 22nd November, 2019.
Recall that the duo on 11th of October raped the victim at a building at World Bank Housing Estate, Umuahia
