In 2019 general elections,I campaigned intensively for His Excellency Senator Sam Ominyi Egwu to return to senate even though I am not from his senatorial zone. I persuaded my friends from his zone to support him wholeheartedly. I had several meetings with some youths who were seriously opposing his candidature. Some strong friends who vowed not to support him were later convinced and they supported him since our amiable governor, His Excellency Apostle David Nweze Umahi had openly declared his support.
As a ponieer Commissioner for education, Ebonyi State,a two term former governor of Ebonyi State, a former minister of education, one time member,2014 national conference, a current senator, representing Ebonyi North zone and a man who has chaired many federal parastals, Sen Sam Ominyi Egwu would be seen as a fufilled man politically and otherwise.
In a several occasions even during election and after election, Sen. Sam Egwu has boasted that power must go to izzi clan, forgetting that we have a governor who decides where powers goes to. He is seriously working secretly to ensure that the power goes to izzi with two reasons.
1. To enable him return to senate for third term.
2. To maintain his political relevance in Ebonyi State.
Dr. Sam Egwu won the heart of Ebonyians when he was a governor of Ebonyi State and till date,he still eats from the former glory. His open declaration to support izzi clan in 2023 for gubernatorial position without considering the feelings of our leader who is the governor of Ebonyi State is seen as total desperation to retain his position in 2023 and it has started generating mixed reactions from well meaning Ebonyians.
Of a true,Dr. Sam Egwu is a well loved but his political rapaciousness or greediness is still something to be thought of. He has rendered many Ohaukwu positive minded souls useless by denying them of their right to go to the green chamber of the national Assembly just because he wants to return to the Senate.
I candidly advise Egwu to quickly retract such step or face political humiliation in 2023. Ebonyians have honoured him enough.
Our dearest governor has honoured him enough and if he is yet to appreciate such honour, he should not in any change the political arrangements of Ebonyi State by imposing any candidate on Ebonyians since our governor has no intention to impose candidate on Ebonyians. God will choose and whosever He chooses,we shall follow.
This might be seen too earlier but as stitch in time saves nine.
