ASEPA acquires new vehicle, assures on sanitation in Umuahia

Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) has acquired a new vehicle for administration and monitoring of waste management In Umuahia.

Speaking during the presentation of the vehicle procured by the agency, Secretary to State Government, Barr Chris Ezem, who was flanked by the State Commissioner For Finance, Dr Aham Uko, assured that the agency is continuously improving its operations to meet the waste disposal challenges in the city and applauded the improvements recorded. He called on residents of the city to change their orientation and ensure proper refuse disposal in order to protect themselves from diseases and prevent the new roads being done by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu from rapidly going bad as a result of silting of drains.

In his remarks, Dr Uko informed that the vehicle will be used to monitor waste disposal in the city as well as mobilize resources to attend to areas of need. He said the agency is ready to deploy more receptacles to high population density areas in the city and applauded Governor Ikpeazu for the compactor donated to the agency which, according to him, has helped to improve refuse evacuation as well as aided the new house to house waste collection operation of the agency.

According to him, the vehicle was procured from the internally generated revenue of the agency without state government funding.
