National Assembly calls for ban on large gatherings, travel on US, UK, Italy, China, others

On Tuesday the House of Representatives has called on the Federal government to ban all large gatherings in Nigeria to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

The House also request the federal government to start by postponing the National Sports Festival.

The resolution followed a motion of matters of urgent public importance moved by Luke Onofiok.

Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the House, while reacting to the motion, said that to do otherwise would be “irresponsible”

In the same vein, members of Nigeria’s upper legislative chamber on Tuesday called for a travel ban on high-risk countries such as China, United Kingdom, United States and others.

This call was made over the global spread of Coronavirus also known as COVID-19

Currently, the high-risk countries include UK, China, Italy, the US among others.
