Yesterday, sequel to the advice of the COVID-19 task force, I announced more measures to check the pandemic with a travel restriction from seven o’clock in the evening to seven o’clock in the morning.
The new measure which takes effect from yesterday evening (Saturday) was necessitated by the need for medical and health personnel who have bèen working round the clock to take a break within the period of the restriction.
Consequently , all entry points into the state from Adagbabiri-Patani, Igbogene-Mbiama, Gateway/Glory Drive-Zarama and Okarki will remain closed within the period.
Everyone is advised to comply while security operatives are enjoined to ensure strict enforcement.
Meanwhile, activities at all worship centres including churches and mosques have been suspended with immediate effect.
All leaders at such centres across the state are to ensure strict compliance or face severe sanctions as security operatives will be going round for enforcement.
Again, I understand the inconveniences this will occasion us all. We are also studying the data we have gained so far and we hope it will further inform our decisions including adjustments to palliative measures where necessary.
May I use this opportunity to thank everyone for the massive cooperation we are getting. Special thanks to the medical personnel who are at the forefront of this battle.
Stay at home. Apply the preventive measures. Raise your awareness. Stay safe.
