Amid COVID-19 Lockdown Order, Soldier allegedly shoots man dead in Delta

On Thursday, As Deltans continue to comply with the “Stay at home,” order by Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, soldiers on stop and search duty shot one Mr. Joseph Pessu dead by Ada-Val Areyenka Junction in Ugbuwangue community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Details as to why the victim was shot dead remained sketchy at the time of filling this report.

However, it was learnt that the deceased, Mr. Joseph Pessu was stopped at a checkpoint by a soldier but refused and made an attempt to run away.

Mr. Joseph Pessu was chased by the soldiers who shot him dead in the process.

At the time of filing this report, the remains of the deceased has been deposited in the morgue.

When contacted for comments, Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP  in a telephone chat with newsmen confirmed the report to be true, saying, “I’m yet to get the full details.”

So far we can report that the Coronavirus pandemic has not killed anybody in Delta State.
