I will weed out corrupt officers -New Rivers CP vows

On Friday the Rivers State Police Command has vowed to pursue a zero-tolerance for corruption and reckless abuse of Human rights of citizens by officers and men warning that those caught engaging in either of the two vices will be dealt with and will face the law.

Joseph Gobum Mukan, the new commissioner of Police, gave the warning during his maiden briefing with journalists at the Police headquarters in Moscow road Port Harcourt.

Joseph Gobum Mukan urged Rivers people to report any erring officers with proof that can nail them.

Joseph Gobum Mukan noted that his mission to the state is to protect lives and properties of the citizens, and enjoined People of the state to co-operate with the command in volunteering information that would assist the Command in curbing crime and criminalities.

CP Joseph Gobum Mukan said the command would be open to constructive criticisms under his watch, urging officers of the command to key into the policy of community policing and pledge harmonious working relationship with the state government in other to achieve the core mandate of protecting lives and Properties.

He also assured that he build on successes of his predecessors to create an enabling environment for people of the state to live without let or hindrance.
