COVID-19 Mobile Court Commences, Fine 6 in Abia

The Abia State Covid-19 Mobile Court yesterday fined 6 people arrested in Bende Local Government Area N5000 each for violating the lockdown regulation to stop the spread of corona virus in Abia State.

Delivering his judgment on a charge; covid/19/01/2020 Cop vs Ufere David and 5 others, Magistrate E.C Nwankpa said the defaulters were found guilty of traveling during the lockdown period without exemption letter, he stressed the need for people to obey properly constituted laws of the state, and warned that defaulters of the lockdown regulations will not only be fined, but will be send to isolation centers

Reacting to the judgment, the Transition Committee chairman for Bende Local Government Area Dr Hagler Okorie said the lockdown regulation is aimed at stopping the spread of corona virus in the state including community transmission, and said his administration will stop at nothing in ensuring strict compliance to the regulations and pleaded with people to respect Government directives.
