Deputy Speaker Rivers State House of Assembly Ehie Edison has reacted to a statement credited to EFCC for requesting, for its interrogation, the release of three officials of the Rivers State Government, who are implicated in the alleged illegal withdrawal of N118billion public funds.

In his reaction, Ehie said

EFCC: YOU ARE A CREATION OF THE LAW:
UPHOLD THE LAW, NOT BREAK IT:
WHAT THE COURT SAYS IS FINAL.

Perpetual injunction is an ORDER granted at the END of a Lawsuit. It is the final Order of the COURT after the resolution of a matter.

The effect is a permanent injunction as conclusive determination.

A COURT of competent jurisdiction in 2007, granted the Rivers State Government, a Perpetual Injunction, restraining the EFCC from investigating or inquiring into the financial transactions of the Rivers State Government.

The EFCC is very much aware and have often been notified/ reminded formally, officially and legally.

The violation of Perpetual Injunction amounts to contempt of Court.

The Rivers State House of Assembly in her consistent oversight functions is satisfied with the prudent and transparent management of government funds/resources as evident in the overwhelming project delivery, infrastructure development, inter-government administration and social welfare.

Allow the Rivers State Government to concentrate in service delivery on the mandate given by Rivers people.

We all may not agree with the LAW, but the Law is the Law and it is what the COURT says it is.

Rt Hon Ehie Edison
Deputy Speaker,
Rivers State House of Assembly
