The Federal High Court sitting in Kano, North-West Nigeria has described as unconstitutional, null and void the suspension of 5 members of the Kano State House of Assembly over their opposition to plans by the State Government to dethrone Emir Muhammad Sanusi II in March this year.

The court in its judgement ordered the payment of the salaries and allowances of the affected lawmakers for the period of their suspension.

The lawmakers had opposed attempts to move a motion for the investigation and dethronement of the former Emir on March 16 leading to a fight on the floor of the Assembly.
