Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as painful the resignation of Governor Godwin Obaseki from the party.

Speaking in a chat with INDEPENDENT, Ojezua said with Obaseki’s exit, APC has lost its biggest asset as far as the Edo governorship election is concerned.

“I am not surprised by the decision he has taken, even though I am very pained by it. I have said it before and I will say it again, he is the biggest asset that we have as far as APC in Edo is concerned”.

“But in its own wisdom, the NWC has pushed him out of the party against our wishes and desires. My duty now is to call our colleagues and review the situation as we find it and adjust”.

When asked if leaders of the party will follow the governor to any political party he joins, Ojezua said “That is the general attitude of a cross section of the leadership but the executives have to take a position on that”.
