Release CUPP Spokesperson Ikenga Now, Court Gives Order

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, on Monday, 22nd June, ordered the immediate and unconditional release of the Spokesperson of the Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, Ikenga Ugochinyere Imo.

The court ordered the Inspector General of Police to release Ugochinyere “forthwith and unconditionally” from what it described as “unlawful and illegal incarceration” stating that it’s “a product of disobedience of a lawful and subsisting order of court.’

The court had on 3rd June, 2020, granted an order restricting the police or its agent from arresting the CUPP image maker which was disregarded by the police.

in an Enrolled order, the court ordered that any “remand issued and obtained by the Inspector General of Police from any inferior court is void and of no effect.”

The matter will be heard on the 30th of June, 2020.
