On Monday the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, has tested positive for COVID-19.
Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos Commissioner for Information and Strategy, disclosed this in a press statement released on Monday.
Omotoso announced that the commissioner tested positive after being in contact with persons who tested positive for the virus.
Part of Omotoso statement read: ”Honorable Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi became aware of his status following the required testing protocol of contact tracing procedures.”
Omotoso urged the public to pray for his recovery, adding that the commissioner will be in isolation for 14 days.
“The commissioner is doing well with no symptoms. Adhering to the protocol of the home-based strategy in Lagos State, but will be isolating in his home for the next 14 days and will continue to discharge his duties both as the Deputy Incident Commander of the Incident Command System for COVID-19 and most especially, as the Honorable Commissioner for Health,” the statement added.
