Press Release

The attention of Abia State Indigenes in Diaspora UK&EIRE has been drawn to the press release, signed by one Professor Chibike Ubani on behalf of a group called Umuafo-Abia.

The release was published in the Nation Newspaper of 30th August 2020.

The release claimed that some Abia State indigenes living in different cities in the United Kingdom have threatened to organise a protest march to the British Parliament and Nigerian High Commission in the country against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), should the anti-corruption agency continues to keep quiet over corruption cases it has against former Abia State Governor, Senator T. A. Orji and his son, Chinedu Orji, the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly.

We wish to state in clear terms that the Executive Council and entire members of Abia State Indigenes in Diaspora UK & Eire do not have anything to do with the group. We therefore disassociate ourselves from the activities of the said Umuafo Abia and make it clear that the group does not represent the interests of members of Abia State Indigenes in Diaspora UK &Eire. We therefore advise Abians in UK & Eire not to allow themselves to be used by anyone to achieve personal objectives.

Signed
Uche Kay
Chairman
Abia State Indigenea in Diaspora UK & Eire
